Normalcy in travel sector returns, Yatra.com claims it reaches 90% of pre-covid level for hotel bookings

Showing a sign of return to normalcy in the travel sector in the country, Yatra.com, an online travel service provider informed that it had reached 90% of pre-Covid level for hotel bookings and the upswing continues.  Yatra.com said this summer season and easing of restrictions have given people confidence to travel again. “After spending two consecutive summers in lockdown, 2022 will be seen as the first summer season wherein people will be able to travel without any restrictions and apprehension,” the company said in a press note. The company also observed an average increase in domestic flight bookings by 85% and international flight bookings by 95% of pre-Covid levels.

Travellers are interested in exploring domestic places like Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, North-East and Kashmir. As the international borders have reopened, Paris, Switzerland, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Dubai, and Mauritius are the top international destinations for this summer. The travel agency said it had received 70% of booking inquiries from honeymooners and leisure travelers. In terms of accommodation, the company finds this summer season 80% of bookings are observed for hotels and 20% for alternate accommodations such as villas, cottages and homestays. Overall, it has reached 90% of pre-Covid level for hotel bookings and the upswing continues.

“The arrival of summer season along with a positive outlook of travellers after two years has brought a sense of relief to the travel and hospitality industry. To promote summer travel, the company has launched a campaign: Step Out. Get Going.
