Rishikesh: A haven for adventure seekers
Located in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas, Rishikesh is often known as the Yoga Capital of the World. Lately, this Ganga town is also becoming an ideal destination for adventure enthusiasts.It is an experience to try these activities overlooking mountains and Ganga River. Recently, I embarked on a two-day adventure quest, exploring the exhilarating activities it had to offer. From heart-pumping water sports to breathtaking hikes, Rishikesh proved to be the ultimate playground for thrill-seekers.

Day 1: White water rafting
Rishikesh is famous for its white-water rafting, and I wasted no time in immersing myself in this thrilling experience. After a hearty breakfast, I headed to one of the numerous rafting operators located near the banks of the holy Ganges River. With different stretch options available, I opted for the adrenaline-pumping 16-kilometer route from Shivpuri to Rishikesh.
Equipped with a life jacket, helmet, and paddle, our expert guide provided a safety briefing before we embarked on our adventure. As we navigated through Grade II and III rapids, the rushing water tested our teamwork and resilience. The scenic beauty of the river surrounded by lush green forests and towering cliffs was awe-inspiring.
Charges: The charges for rafting varied depending on the operator and the chosen stretch, but it generally ranged between Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,500 per person.
Beatles Ashram
After an exhilarating morning on the river, I spent sometime at the famous Beatles Ashram. It is the place where the legendary band once sought enlightenment. The serene atmosphere and beautiful graffiti art gave me a much-needed relief.

Day 2: Paragliding and Zip-lining
Rishikesh offers an array of thrilling airborne activities, including paragliding and zip-lining. After breakfast, on the second day I made my way to the launch site for paragliding, located on the picturesque hills overlooking Rishikesh.
Under the guidance of skilled pilots, I soared through the skies, embracing the breathtaking panoramic views of the Ganges River, the surrounding mountains, and the city below. The experience of was as if I am flying like a bird in sky.
Charges: The charges for paragliding were around Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 4,500, depending on the duration of the flight and any additional services offered.
Then it was turn to try thrill of zip-lining. I headed to a nearby adventure park to experience the thrill of zip-lining. Suspended high above the ground, I zoomed across the scenic landscapes, feeling an adrenaline rush like never before. The charges for zip-lining were generally around Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 per person.
